The 60-Second Version

Tomorrow you're meeting Northslope Technologies. Here's what matters.

This is not a cold approach. Matt Leonard and TJ have an active relationship — not just LinkedIn likes, but actual conversations. Two weeks ago, Matt commented on TJ's CPOF photo:

"Never made it to Iraq, but I have other photos meeting the criteria. Crazy you made this post only yesterday given the conversation about CPoF we had a few hours ago…" — Matt Leonard, comment on TJ's post, 2026-02-27 E

And three months before that, TJ tagged Matt endorsing his thinking:

"This is really powerful thinking I hope to apply Matthew Leonard" — TJ, urn:li:activity:7271008689262596096, 2024-12-07 E

Northslope is a 97-person Palantir application builder — 83 Forward Deployed Engineers, 18 self-identify as ex-Palantir in their headlines, 26 confirmed through position records.E They are Palantir's "first and only Vanguard: Elite partner."V Palantir's Target Workbench is already operational in Project Dynamis live-fire exercises.E

They've already demonstrated a deliverable. At the "Art of the Edge" live demo at AFCEA WEST (Feb 2026), Northslope built a Track Data Correlator on Palantir Foundry in 24 hours that ingested multi-sensor target track data into Maven Smart System as step 3 of an 8-step integrated kill chain.ENEW

The question is not whether to meet, but whether the Track Data Correlator — or something like it — solves a specific Dynamis problem that isn't already covered.

Why This Meeting Exists

The Dynamis Stack Is Already Built

Project Dynamis, led by Col. Arlon Smith at HQMC, has an operational kill chain: Palantir Target Workbench + Anduril Lattice Data Mesh + MAGTF C2 Prototype, tested in live-fire exercises with the 4th Infantry Division (Ivy Sting IV). Maven Smart System deployed to NATO SHAPE.EV TJ and the MCTSSA team run the server infrastructure.

What Northslope Built at WEST

The "Art of the Edge" demo (AFCEA WEST, Feb 2026) was a 12-company coalition under a DoW CRADA with Ultra I&C, run under Title 15 authorities. Five weeks of planning, 96 hours of execution prep. Tim Miller documented the full chain:E

1. Sensor to shooter: Ultra RAIN > Syntiant ATR > Ultra ADSI > TAK 2. Coalition fires to 23 countries: Ultra ADSI > Sitaware Tactical Comm 3. Track data into MSS: Northslope Track Data Correlator (built in 24 hrs on Palantir Foundry) 4. OSINT enrichment: Vennevar's Open AI Agents 5. Edge compute: 1350 Design MFALCON (SOCOM Mod1) w/ NEBIS 6. Data assurance: Tachyon Networks Ares blockchain 7. Live UAS: SciFly surrogate MQ-27 over San Diego Convention Center 8. ML retrain on floor: Syntiant ATR > Cognita's Dynamis Mesh Framework Running on: Anduril Voyager 8 + Nutanix NKP Full Stack

Northslope's contribution was specific and timeboxed: ingest multi-Int target tracks from step 1-2 into Maven Smart System via a Palantir Foundry correlator. Built in 24 hours. This is exactly the kind of "mission-specific application on existing Palantir deployment" their model promises.

TJ's Documented Playbook

TJ publicly posts the pathway companies should follow: CRADA → experimentation → transition to Program of Record. He calls it "RDT&E is the on-ramp. Procurement is the highway. O&M is the sustainment lane."E Northslope is already on the on-ramp: they demonstrated under a CRADA at WEST, with MCTSSA running the infrastructure. TJ is a fan of Northslope's content — 3 comments, 2 reactions on company/employee posts.E

Who You're Meeting

What to expect from each person in the room:

Matt Leonard

Forward Deployed Engineer (Jan 2025–present)E

Expect: Engineering depth + the TJ relationship. Matt is a 20+ year software engineer who started at Boeing, spent 4.5 years as a Combat Software Engineer at GDC4S deploying CPOF, then 3.75 years as an FDE at Palantir (2011–2015). After that: Facebook Senior SWE (2015–2017), Pinterest Staff Software Engineer (5 years, 2018–2023), Kodex Head of Product (2023–2024), then Northslope.E

He was at the Art of the Edge demo — Tim Miller tagged him by name. He and TJ have an active relationship with back-and-forth comments on LinkedIn. He can credibly discuss what was actually built at WEST and what's technically feasible on the Dynamis Palantir instance. His interests include Anduril, Anthropic, and child safety organizations (Crimes Against Children Conference, Darkness to Light) — connecting to his Pinterest legal engineering work on CSAM/trust-and-safety.E

Amanda Shaver Gurman

FDE & Defense/NatSec Lead, US & Asia Pacific (Nov 2025–present)E

Expect: The defense and intelligence pitch. Amanda is not an engineer — she's an intelligence and policy professional. Her career: GWU BA + MA in International Affairs, Senate intern (Sen. Markey), State Dept intern (U.S. Embassy to the Holy See), VP's speechwriting office, Stimson Center (environmental security, 2017–2019), then C4ADS for 6 years — Analyst (2019–2021), Director of Learning (2021–2024), Head of Commercial Partnerships (2024–2025). Georgetown adjunct teaching OSINT/PAI methods in 2023.E

"Asia Pacific" in her title signals Northslope is targeting this AOR specifically. She follows Bellingcat, Dataminr, C4ADS, CNAS, DIU, AFCEA, Anduril, and Anthropic — a defense-intelligence interest network.E Her C4ADS background is directly relevant to counter-malign-influence, but she has been at Northslope for 4 months. She speaks Italian (limited working proficiency).E Watch whether she can articulate specific workflows, or only strategic vision.I

Ben Holloway

Head of Global Defence & National Security (Feb 2025–present)E

Expect: Coalition credibility and defense market knowledge. Ben is a Royal Navy officer with a full military career (2007–2025): Logistics Manager (2007–2010, including submarine fleet), Assistant to CO (2011–2012), Afghanistan contractor-support coordination (2013), British Forces Cyprus personnel management (2013–2015), EA to Commodore (2015–2016), OC Combat Service Support Squadron at Commando Helicopter Force (2016–2018), then pivoted to data: Data Integration Project Lead (2018–2019), Head of Data & Platforms (2019–2022), Head of Data & Navy Applications (2022–2025).E

His data integration trajectory (logistics officer → enterprise data leader) is relevant to TJ's PACT 2026 panel: "AI-Driven C6ISR: The Future of Allied Integration." He follows BAE Systems, Anduril, Arondite, UK MoD, and Atlantic and Pacific Future Forum.E A senior UK military officer leading defense sales for a US startup signals they're serious about FVEY/coalition markets. Skills include Big Data, Digital Strategy, Global Leadership, Operational Planning, Command.E

Bill Ward

Founder & CEO (listed on LinkedIn as "Foward Deployed Engineer" since Jan 2024)E

Expect: Business model, contracting, and investor context. Bill's career: Morgan Stanley Equity Syndicate Analyst (2011–2012), Obama for America Organizer (2012), Campaign Manager (2013), Data & Analytics (2013–2014), Palantir Business Operations & Strategy (Nov 2014–Jun 2018), Enigma Technologies Head of Field Product (2018–2019), Biofire COO (2020–2023), then founded Northslope (2024).E

He announced the $22M Series A in January 2026, naming investors: Colin Anderson & John Fogelsong at Friends & Family Capital, Adam Ross & Daniel Friedland at Goldcrest Capital, Fifth Down Capital, Leblon Capital, and "the community of Palantir alum angels."E Colin Anderson is Palantir's former CFO. Adam Ross is Palantir's first independent board director. Bill's highest engagement score (0.32) is with the MARFORPAC objective from Bob Sholtis, and 0.30 from Thomas J.E His skills include Palantir Foundry, Python, SQL.E

Not in the meeting but notable: Max Wenneker (COO, also FDE title), Max Helzberg (CCO, highest internal engagement), Stephanie Quast (Strategic Accounts Lead), Alexander H. (Head of Implementation EMEA, ex-Palantir).E

In the Room

Opening move: Don't start with Northslope's pitch. Start with the CPOF connection. Matt commented on TJ's CPOF photo two weeks ago: "Crazy you made this post only yesterday given the conversation about CPoF we had a few hours ago." They've already been talking. Acknowledge that shared history — it signals you've done your homework and reframes the meeting from sales pitch to continuation of a technical conversation.

Matt Leonard Forward Deployed Engineer

We saw the Track Data Correlator at WEST. What else is in the pipeline for defense? What's the next application you'd build on Dynamis?

CONTEXT: We know they built a target track correlator on Palantir Foundry in 24 hours at the Art of the Edge demo. We need to know if that's a one-off or a repeatable capability.

Why you're asking The Track Data Correlator proves they can ship on Palantir Foundry under time pressure. But it was one component in a 12-company demo. You need to know: (a) was this a pre-built capability they deployed, or genuinely created in 24 hours for the demo? (b) what's the next deliverable — another correlator, a full kill chain app, a C2 dashboard? If Matt can describe a roadmap, they're building a defense practice. If the correlator was the extent of it, they're early.E

Which Palantir platform does the Dynamis deployment actually run — AIP, Foundry, or Gotham?

GAP: Northslope markets all three. Need the specific one.

Why you're asking The WEST demo used Palantir Foundry specifically. But Dynamis might use a different instance for operational deployment. If Matt says Foundry confidently and explains the ontology, he has real depth. If he says "we work across all of them" — he's giving you the brochure. The Track Data Correlator was Foundry-native, so push on whether that's the deployed platform or a demo environment.

What does "AC" refer to? You and TJ have a relationship going back to GDC4S — but his email says he's in a different role now. What was the prior context?

GAP: TJ's email says "different role than how you all have engaged me in AC." Two candidates: Army Contracting, or AC2 TTF. Neither confirmed.

Why you're asking This is the biggest unknown. TJ explicitly distinguished his current MCTSSA role from the prior "AC" context. Understanding this tells you: (a) how deep the existing relationship is, (b) whether there's prior work product, (c) whether Northslope understands the difference between TJ's PI authority at MCTSSA and whatever "AC" was. If Matt shares openly, the relationship has depth. If he deflects, something is being managed.R

Amanda Shaver Gurman FDE & Defense/NatSec Lead, US & Asia Pacific

What counter-malign-influence or OSINT workflow could you build on the Dynamis Foundry instance for this AOR?

GAP: Amanda's C4ADS background is relevant, but she's been at Northslope 4 months. No evidence of defense deliverables yet.

Why you're asking Amanda's C4ADS experience (illicit network analysis, integrating investigative data into Palantir Foundry) maps to MARFORPAC's informational advantage mission. She follows Bellingcat and Dataminr — OSINT tools. But she joined in November 2025. You need to know if she's building a capability or wearing a title. If she can describe a specific OSINT workflow on Foundry with inputs/outputs, she's real. If she talks strategy only, the defense practice is aspirational. Risk: NatSec lead <6 months in seat.EI

What's your IL5/IL6 accreditation pathway? FedStart, independent ATO, or riding Palantir's?

GAP: No evidence of any accreditation pathway in any public source.

Why you're asking No IL5, no touching data that matters. This is a gate, not a preference. "We leverage Palantir's accreditation" is a real answer — Palantir FedStart exists for this. "We're working on it" means months of delay. If neither Amanda nor Bill can articulate the path, this is a hard blocker for anything beyond unclassified demos. Risk: Zero public IL5/IL6 evidence.I

Ben Holloway Head of Global Defence & National Security

How does Royal Navy data integration map to US-Japan bilateral data sharing? What have you delivered in a FVEY or coalition context?

GAP: Background suggests coalition relevance. No evidence of actual coalition delivery or Pacific experience.

Why you're asking TJ's PACT 2026 panel is "AI-Driven C6ISR: The Future of Allied Integration." Bernice Kissinger's network includes US-Japan context. Ben led Royal Navy data integration for 7 years (2018–2025) — that's real NATO interoperability experience. But FVEY is not the same as bilateral Pacific agreements. If Ben can bridge UK/NATO interop lessons to US-Japan, that's a coalition multiplier. If he can only speak UK contexts, the value is narrower. Also probe: does he have security clearance that transfers to US contexts?EI

Bill Ward Founder & CEO

Prime or sub? What contracting vehicle? Walk me through a 90-day path to contract.

GAP: CAGE registered (9W7Z3), zero federal awards. No contracting history.

Why you're asking The Art of the Edge ran under a DoW CRADA with Title 15 authorities — so they've been inside a CRADA already. If Bill says "CRADA first, then transition" that matches TJ's pathway and their WEST experience. If he says SBIR, OTA, or sub to Palantir — each is a different timeline and risk. With $22M in VC and 97 employees, they may qualify for small business set-asides. If he doesn't have a clear answer, you're the pathfinder, not a customer. Risk: Zero federal awards despite CAGE registration.VI

Who owns the algorithms from a CRADA engagement? What's the IP framework between USMC, Palantir, and Northslope?

GAP: Three-way IP question undefined in all public materials.

Why you're asking The FDE model means Northslope engineers build on your data with your team, on Palantir's platform. Under a CRADA, the government typically retains rights to inventions. But there are three parties: who owns the application layer (Northslope), who controls the platform license (Palantir), and who holds the data (USMC). The Track Data Correlator at WEST — who owns that code? If Bill has a framework, he's thought about this. If not, it must be resolved before any agreement.R

Debrief

Immediately after the meeting, capture what you learned. This is what goes to TJ.

What did you learn?

How did they describe their role at WEST? What does "AC" refer to? How do they see their contracting path? What's their next deliverable beyond the Track Data Correlator?

What surprised you?

What didn't match the brief? Who was stronger or weaker than expected? Did anything change your understanding of where they fit?

What does TJ need to know?

The one-paragraph summary you'd send TJ after the call. Where does Northslope fit in the Dynamis ecosystem? Is there a natural next step?

MARFORPAC Priority Alignment
PriorityAlignmentEvidence
Battle Management C2 HIGH Palantir Target Workbench operational in Dynamis. Track Data Correlator demonstrated at WEST (step 3 of kill chain). 57 employees with Analytics Applications capability.E
Informational Advantage HIGH Amanda's C4ADS/OSINT background. 30 CI (ISR/exploitation) codes in NATO mapping. Track data OSINT enrichment in WEST demo (step 4, Vennevar not Northslope).E
Allies & Partners HIGH Ben Holloway FVEY. Amanda "Asia Pacific." WEST demo included coalition fires sharing to 23 countries. UK MoD in peer network (21 shared fans).E
Sustainment / Logistics MODERATE Ben's submarine logistics background. Company markets "Supply Chain" vertical. No EABO-specific evidence.ER
Risk Flags (4) + "AC" Connection
  1. Zero federal awards — CAGE registered (9W7Z3) but no FPDS/USAspending awards. Art of the Edge ran under DoW CRADA, suggesting familiarity with that pathway. Most likely next step: CRADA or OTA.VI
  2. No IL5/IL6 evidence — No accreditation pathway found in any public source. Palantir FedStart exists but scope unknown for Northslope.I
  3. IP ownership undefined — Three-way question: USMC data + Palantir platform + Northslope application layer. Track Data Correlator at WEST — who owns that code? Must resolve before any agreement.R
  4. Defense leadership <6 months in seat — Amanda joined Nov 2025, Ben joined Feb 2025. Company has 97 employees but defense-specific leadership is building, not established.E

"AC" Connection — Unresolved

TJ's email: "I'm operating from a different role than how you all have engaged me in AC." Amanda's reply: "broader offerings and capabilities beyond AC." Two candidates:

  • Army Contracting context (unknown specifics)
  • AC2 TTF — Aviation Command and Control Transition Task Force (Bob Sholtis's prior role as HQMC PP&O C2 Section Head integrating GCE equities with AC2 TTF)R

Neither confirmed. Ask Matt directly (Q3).

Competitive Landscape
Primer AIR
Standalone NLP/ML company. Builds own models rather than deploying on Palantir. No platform dependency, but also no platform integration advantage.
Second Front SystemsR
DevSecOps platform (Game Warden) with IL4/IL5 accreditation pathways. They accelerate other software into DoD, not build apps themselves. Established federal contracting.
Traditional Primes (SAIC, Booz Allen, Leidos)I
Palantir implementation services among broader portfolios. Established contracting vehicles. Lack the FDE-only rapid-deployment model and Palantir's explicit platform endorsement.

Northslope's peer network (by shared fan engagement): Palantir Technologies (250 shared fans), Andreessen Horowitz (55), UK MoD (21), Valinor (20), Shield AI (18), Anduril (17), DARPA (16).E
